Dubbed, rather unofficially, the “mural capital of the world”, there could not be a better place than Philadelphia to enjoy a touch of urban decadence in the form of street art.

Therefore, if you are visiting Philadelphia, in addition to a two-day itinerary to explore the city, which you can find here, we want to share this map (below) that will help you find some of the best works of art commissioned by Mural Arts Philadelphia.

The majority of these works of art embellish otherwise anonymous parking lots and grey, bare walls; aside from providing a splash of colour, they want to tell a story, to inform, to celebrate the people of this city.

There exists a route known as MURAL MILE – a bit of a misnomer as it spans a longer distance – that you can follow for some amazing street art.

You can either choose to book a guided tour or simply download a very basic map at this link. The map is split between North and South of Market St. that cuts the city horizontally, for a total of 28 murals.

Or, you can simply “steal” our map that has pictures and info about every mural we were able to find and dedicate some time out of your two-day itinerary to some healthy art sight-seeing. We have added a couple more murals, for a total of 30.

If you work up an appetite while perusing the city, we have got you covered, as the map contains plenty of suggestions of places where you can grab a bite. Make sure to try at least one of Philly’s classic cheesesteaks. Here’s where you can find the best one.

As you walk the Mural Mile, keep in mind that Mural Arts Philadelphia has produced and recorded over 3000 murals to date. So, if you have an extra day at your disposal and/or are an hardcore street art hunter, activate your GPS, put on your most comfortable footwear and follow this incredibly comprehensive map.
